FSRC is led by a dedicated group of experienced physicians who develop and implement medical and scientific initiatives. We achieve an unbiased and credible approach to stakeholders through peer-to-peer interaction on scientific grounds. We work with our panel of advisors to be able to leverage on-ground information and local expertise that they bring to the table.

    CEO

    Since 2006, Behsad is working with global, regional and local stakeholders across a broad range of healthcare topics. In his earlier career he has held positions such as National Sales Manager, BU Head and Global Brand Director for large pharma companies like B-MS, Schering-Plough and Novartis.

    MANAGING PARTNER

    Anand has more than 13 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry working with large pharma companies and global consulting firms in India and Switzerland. Over the years, Anand has successfully helped global pharma companies on their sales force operations, mature product strategy and business planning.

  • SALMAN BOKHARI

    STRATEGIC ADVISOR

    Salman has more than 30 years of experience in the life sciences industry working with large and medium-sized companies such as Novartis, UCB, Lundbeck in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Salman helps companies develop innovative market entry and exponential growth strategies. An economist by training, he has hands-on senior management experience and has also coordinated public health and awareness projects in Asia in leprosy, TB, thalassemia and epilepsy.

  • PROF. DR. MARK THURSZ

    PROFESSOR OF HEPATOLOGY

    Prof. Mark Thursz is a Professor of hepatology at The Imperial College and consultant in hepatology at St Marys Hospital, London. His current interests include developing programmes for chronic HBV infection treatment in resource poor settings to reduce the risk of HCC. He was the Secretary of the BASL for 3 years during which he campaigned for a National Service Framework for liver disease and co-wrote the National Plan for Liver Services which is now implemented by the UK Dept. of Health. He established and now chairs the British Liver Disease Clinical Interest Group. He has been the Vice-Secretary and later the Secretary-General of the EASL and has completed a term, recently.

  • DR. MOHAMED KAMAL SHAKER

    PROFESSOR OF TROPICAL MEDICINE AND HEPATOLOGY

    Dr. Mohamed Kamal Shaker is the Professor of Tropical Medicine and Hepatology at Ain Shams University Cairo, Egypt. He is also the Secretary General of the AfASLD, Vice President of the Egyptian Society for Liver Cancer and the Director of Ain Shams Hepatoma Group – Egypt.

  • MR. JAWAHAR KANJILAL

    MOBILE SERVICES PIONEER AND TECHNOPRENEUR

    Before founding TechMania in Jan’14, a digital publishing start-up, he was the Vice-President and Global Head of Nokia Life services. For around 2 decades, he has been actively involved in stimulating and steering the mobile services ecosystem with mobile operators/marketers, regulators, NGOs, development agencies, ISPs, broadcasters, music labels, games publishers and content community in the emerging markets. He currently focuses on the next big challenge for the mobile industry, that of introducing and driving the uptake of services as the mobile coverage expands to the highly value conscious, seeking more from their mobile devices in their daily lives.

  • DR. ABATE BANE

    CONSULTANT INTERNIST AND GASTROENTEROLOGIST

    Dr. Abate Bane has been a Consultant Internist and Gastroenterologist at Addis Ababa university Medical school for 13 years teaching UG, PG, and GI Fellows. He has 21 publications and several ongoing research projects and clinical trials. He has served as Head of Department of Internal Medicine and GI unit at the same school (2007-2010). He has served as the Vice President of the Ethiopian Medical Association for two terms (2007-2010). In addition, he has been a secretary for the Ethiopian Gastroenterology Association for 4 years (2008-2013), for which he is chairs, as President from 2013 to date.

  • DR. JESSE A.OTEGBAYO

    PROFESSOR OF MEDICINE/CONSULTANT GASTROENTEROLOGIST & HEPATOLOGIST

    Dr. Jesse A.Otegbayo is a Professor/Consultant Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist, Gastrointestinal/Liver Unit, Dept. of Medicine, University of Ibadan & University College Hospital (UCH). He is also the Chairman of Medical Advisory Committee and Director of Clinical Services, Research & Training of UCH. He is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology, Editorial Board Member of the World Journal of Gastroenterology and currently the Director of WACIDS, African Union, Scientific, Technical and Research Commission.

  • DR. JOHN C. RWEGASHA

    SPECIALIST PHYSICIAN IN GASTROENTEROLOGY

    Dr. John C. Rwegasha is a Specialist Physician in Gastroenterology and Hon. Lecturer and head of Gastroenterology unit at Muhimbili National Referral Hospital. He runs multiple outpatients GI clinics focused on hepatitis management and supervises an endoscopy training centre at the Hospital. He is currently involved in a global study on INPLCC, as Principle Investigator in Tanzania. The qualitative study outcome aims at providing basis for advising leaders in national health policy, national health institutions and advocacy groups on intervening against the evidenced growing disease burden for hepatitis and liver cancer in Tanzania.

  • DR. MARY K. Y. AFIHENE

    PHYSICIAN GASTROENTEROLOGIST

    Dr. Mary K. Y. Afihene is a Physician Gastroenterologist at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Medicine Directorate and also the Head of Endoscopy Unit/Gastroenterology and Hepatology Clinic. She has been a Lecturer at the Dept. of Medicine at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. In addition, Dr. Afihene is a member of Hepatitis Society of Ghana and Ghana Society for the Study of Liver and Digestive Diseases. She is involved in clinical care of hepatitis patients and plans to start a Hepatitis and HCC registry in the near future.

  • DR. PONSIANO OCAMA

    PROFESSOR OF MEDICINE AND SPECIALIST HEPATOLOGIST

    Dr. Ocama is a Professor / Specialist at Makerere University College of Health Sciences and heads the directorate of undergraduate training. He is a WHO consultant on viral hepatitis in resource limited settings and is a leading researcher on liver diseases/HIV in Uganda with over 30 publications. He is currently the principal investigator and co-investigator in several grants including those funded by NIH. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the NOPLHB, a patient initiated NGO. He also runs a study on early childhood transmission of hepatitis B in a highly endemic region of the country and is pushing for a birth dose against the disease in the country.

    CONSULTANT GASTROENTEROLOGIST

    Dr. Olufunmilayo Lesi , is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lecturer and Associate Professor at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos and secretary of the Lagos chapter of SOGHIN.

  • MR. THEOBALD OWUSU-ANSAH

    PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE THEOBALD HEPATITIS B FOUNDATION

    Mr. Theobald Owusu-Ansah, BSc, Dip, Cert, N+ is the President and CEO of the Theobald Hepatitis B Foundation, 2007. It is a non-profit non-governmental organization registered in Ghana, seeking to promote awareness of the prevalence and incidence of viral hepatitis, and to educate the public in the prevention of the spread of the virus and the availability of treatment options. He is also a Regional Board Member of the World Hepatitis Alliance, Board Member of the National Association of Hepatitis C Taskforce and President of the Hepatitis Coalition of Ghana.
